35 YEARS OF NABIHA'S KITCHEN

I’d like to thank the legendary Nabiha Koriaty for inviting me to celebrate a very special occasion this morning – 35 years of kindness, culture, care and amazing food!

As an MP, it’s always a pleasure to celebrate local success stories but when it comes to food this good, it was no chore at all to be saying a few words!

Of course, the traditional Lebanese fare created so lovingly by Nabiha speaks for itself, but Nabiha’s own personal story is equally special.

Arriving in Australia with barely a word of English and inspired by deep faith in God, love of family, and a passion for cooking, she defied the odds to set up Nabiha’s Kitchen – and 35 years later, it’s still a mainstay of Wagga’s culinary scene.

This longevity is testament to Nabiha’s dedication to her craft and also to our city’s embrace of new culture and experiences.

Many people will know of Nabiha’s kindness and generosity. She has given people down on their luck a chance and enjoyed seeing them go on to achieve success in their own right.

On a personal note, I remember Nabiha’s kindness to me when I was first elected.

Thirty-five years in small business is an amazing experience and luckily for us, Nabiha loves cooking so much she has no plans to stop.

Thank you, Nabiha, for the care and cuisine you’ve brought to our community and congratulations on reaching a remarkable milestone.

I wish you many more happy hours in the kitchen – and I know the food fans of Wagga Wagga will also wish you the best with appreciation and gratitude.
