actions & Outcomes

Infrastructure:

  • Oversaw the rebuilding after fire of the Wagga Wagga Public School and completion of new Estella primary school.

  • Completion of the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital redevelopment

  • Completely new Tumut hospital

  • Completely new Tumut ambulance station

  • Addition of Wagga Wagga Base Hospital Car Park

  • New PCYC building in Wagga Wagga, this is the largest in the state.

  • Pomingalarna cycle track Wagga Wagga

  • Active cycle paths in Wagga Wagga

  • Riverside precinct development Wagga Wagga

  • Funding for the Special Activation Precinct – Bomen

  • Upgrades at Gocup Road intersection at Tumut

  • Secured the Tolland Renewal Project, the first development of its kind for regional NSW - this is close to my heart and will improve the living conditions and safety for our community

  • Eunony Bridge upgrade

  • Wagga Wagga Transport Plan

  • Lobbied for an increased focus on our road infrastructure: this is still very much a work in progress but my efforts have seen record investment in repairing and improving our roads. The fatality and serious injury rate on rural roads has more or less stabilised, I would like to see this driven further down and this will require continued effort and investment.

  • New Adelong Police Station

Advocacy & policy:

  • I have advocated for a separate rural health department that will close the gap between rural and metropolitan health

outcomes. This is not a small endeavour and while progress has been made with a rural health division within NSW Health far more is required in order to achieve this goal.

  • I have also advocated an increase in funding for travel assistance for patients and their families needing health care in larger centres - this funding doubled last year.

  • Palliative care funding has also doubled and $1 million was provided to establish the first regional health precinct in Murrumbidgee.

  • Furthermore, I have advocated to eliminate out of pocket expenses for those receiving radiotherapy treatment in Wagga Wagga or Griffith.

  • I have also worked to address delays in coronial autopsy delays.

  • I have advocated for the undergrounding of Humelink transmission, this is an ongoing issue. My advocacy has seen proper community consultation, route changes, and much better compensation for landowners. In the process I secured compensation of $200 000 per kilometre for landowners who may be forced to host giant transmission towers on their land. This is an ongoing issue.

  • Strong advocacy on Dam Management.

  • Snowy Valleys Council LGA, support for recovery after Bushfires.

  • Solar factories: sought to ensure future proposals are not detrimental to food security or the environment.

  • Supported the Coercive Control Bill 2022 which passed State Parliament.

  • Highlighted the need for an overhaul of support for families and patients needing to travel for health care - succeeded in getting a doubling of funding and improvements to accessing the scheme.

  • Pushed for ride sharing legislation and fair compensation for taxi plate owners.

  • Highlighted the extensive delays nurses at the WWBH have experienced obtaining their permanent residency despite the need for nurses in regional areas.

  • Lake Albert water agreement project.

Linking to community:

  • Regular Meet the MP and Pop Up Offices throughout the electorate providing support to constituents who require assistance with state government departments/agencies.

  • I have kept the community up to date with grants, schemes and programs that help improve their lives, you don't know what you don't know.

  • I have hosted two grant writing webinars, run by 'The Grants Guy' to help community groups develop their grant writing skills.

  • In addition, I funded a grants portal to provide the community with free access to a comprehensive database of private and public grants.

  • Worked with a large number of community groups and local organisations, this has occasionally represented life and death

situations such as Thunderstorm Asthma events.

  • Supported communities in their efforts to demerge local councils.

  • Increased regional representation at Charles Sturt University.

  • Focus on Net Zero Emissions with community webinar.

  • Advocated community concerns regarding the Inland Rail project
